Highlights of Halau's achievements in 2002
• We won and was selected to represent Hawaii in the Alexandria Alexandria Recreation Parks and cultural activities summer series and performed at the Kings Street City hall.
• We did 40 shows this year (birthdays - 40s and 5 years olds, weddings, schools, clubs and company events).
• We auditioned for the Naval Academy ball.
• We held 4 cooking / luncheon - huli-huli, spam masubi, Hawaiian breakfast and pot luck.
• We had 3 Hawaiian craft classes (2 lei class and one Tahitian hip band)
• 2002 Halau yearbook was produced on time and distributed during the Christmas party.
Highlights of Halau's achievements in 2001
• The halau was chosen to be part of the JASON Project XII last January 20, 2001. Halau performed at 3 of these event and was televised
• The halau participated / performed for 33 shows / events. We performed for weddings, bridal rehearsal, birthdays, anniversaries, jamboree, boat regatta and conventions. Below is a brief highlight of these events:
• The halau was part of the GIRLS SCOUTS JAMBOREE June 2
• VOICE OF AMERICA interviewed the halau. They chose the halau because we are culturally based. (July 13, 2001).
• HUI ALOHA LUA'U (August 25, 2001)
• CAPS performing arts competition: February 3, 2001.
• Halau MELE KALIKIMAKA (Merry Christmas) Party - All the divisions (Wahine, Kane, kupuna and keiki) division delighted all the guest with their dances.
• Halau participated in the Native American Heritage Month Celebration by performing at the Administrative Office of the United States Courts (AO).
• Halau's performance at Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia for festival of lightness celebration (December 8, 2001). The halau was featured in the Washington Post, Fairfax Section last December 13, 2001 Thursday issue. They had photographs of the halau performing at this event.
